Music Workshop

Harmonious Singing, with Martin Hargrove

In this interactive workshop you will learn to sing harmony with confidence by understanding harmonic structures, chord patterns, and counter-melodies. You do not need to know how to read music; we will use popular songs and hymn parts to learn and practice improvised vocal harmonies. Together we will create an atmosphere of trust and support where we can experiment with group and individual performance. Participants are welcome to bring sheet music they would like to work on in the workshop. Whether you sing in the car or a chorus, we can make beautiful music together.

Martin Hargrove

Martin Hargrove has worked internationally in both opera and musical theatre venues. Recently, he performed in "Rosenkranz and Gildenstern are Dead", a new opera based on the Tom Stoppard play. Martin’s numerous operatic appearances include being featured in the World Premiere of Robert Zuidams "Freeze" and performing as Guest Soloist at the Jenny Lind Memorial Concert in New York. His musical theater work is highlighted by his appearance in "Showboat" in Chicago and on national tour. Other shows include "The Color Purple," "Side by Side by Sondheim," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Promises Promises," and "One Touch of Venus."
