From the Chair,
Last year the love, enthusiasm and hard work of the Star Arts community proved that we can thrive even on the mainland. However, we can’t wait to get back to our island home. So, what’s in store for the days of summer solstice this year?
The Writing Circle, with Ellen Schmidt; Visual Arts I—Sea Gem: The Spirit of Place, sculpture installation with Antoinette Prien Schultze; Visual Arts II—Watercolor: The Landscape of Star, with Jacquelyne Lotz; Portraiture in the Natural Environment, photography with Gary Samson, back by popular demand and with a different focus; Dancing Through Time: Choreography with Jason Durivou; and The Structure of Ritual in Performance, with David Brune. Check back later for information about the 2008 music workshop.
In 2008, ARTS will once again welcome Jacqueline and Dudley Laufman as our Sunday Night Dance leaders. Presenters and performers include Grammy award winning cellist Eugene Friesen, author/scriptwriter Jane Vallier, painter Patrick McCay, contemporary blues performer Guy Davis, and more!
We look forward to creating a welcoming, nurturing environment for self-expression within the context of community. Come join the Arts community!
